02 May 2017

May is a month of fun holidays, such as May Day, Mother’s Day, and everyone’s favorite three-day weekend, Memorial Day. But in addition to these celebrations, Reunion residents can partake in a lot of other activities during this festive month.

Some things Reunion residents can look forward to this month are the Reunion community youth and adult programs. But if you’re looking for fun things to do outside of the neighborhood, we’ve compiled a list of cool events around town:

Free Music Class for Kids

Saturday, May 6, 10 am – 11 am

Children’s Music Academy (CMA) is offering a free introductory music class so parents (and kids!) can see what they’re all about. This program is available for children ages 3-10; register here.

Bike Rodeo

Friday, May 26, 10 am – 1 pm

This mini bike course is for children ages 9-17 and teaches bike laws and bike safety. Participants will ride their bike through a mini course and receive free safety gear. No registration necessary; just show up at Kearney Middle School.

Father and Son Outdoor Adventure

Saturday, May 6

Spend a fun-filled morning doing some father/son bonding while fishing at the beautiful Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge. Fishing gear and other nature programs provided. Cost is $10 per person and is for boys ages 4 and older with a male adult. Register here.

The Denver Mini Derby

Saturday, May 6, 1 pm – 6:30 pm

The Stanley Marketplace will host a viewing party with large TV screens and unlimited cocktails for the 2017 Kentucky Derby. In addition, this event will feature a live Mini Derby with miniature horses! Yes, live mini horses with pint-sized riders will compete in a small field adjacent to the venue with charitable betting encouraged. The Mini Derby will take place following the Kentucky Derby.

The Big Wonderful

May 5 – May 7

Looking for some hipster vibes? This quarterly weekend festival is Denver’s original urban fest that celebrates Colorado’s eclectic culture to the fullest. The Big Wonderful turns otherwise vacant lots into a thriving arts and small business community, incorporating a huge bazaar that features Denver’s best eats, drinks, and pop-up retail.

Hopefully this will give you a solid starting place to plan your month of fun!
