Put some spring back in your step this April

Admit it. Sometimes you use that snowy winter weather as an excuse to sit on the couch all day and binge movies and TV shows. And who wouldn’t? But by the start of April, most of us are catching a bit of spring fever and we’re ready to step outdoors into sunny, warmer weather. Or as some of you call it – pool weather. But if the pool at the The Barn isn’t open yet, don’t get back on the couch. We have suggestions that’ll get you and your family members out of the house and moving.

 

FREE DAY AT THE MUSEUM – April 1

Take a leisurely stroll around Denver’s largest museum and explore more than 70,000 works of art. Saturday, April 1 is Free First Saturday at the Denver Art Museum, where you and your family will get free access to the museum’s art collections and non-ticketed exhibitions. Enjoy kid-friendly activities as well as live artists on the plaza and special giveaways. Learn more.

ELMO MAKES MUSIC – April 1&2

Pick up those feet and dance! Elmo and the gang are at it again in this lively production, which teaches kids that musical inspiration can be found anywhere. Your little ones will dance, sing, and learn about making music with actors dressed as the beloved cast of Sesame Street. Performances are Saturday at 10:30am and Sunday at 1:30pm and 4:30pm at the Bellco Theatre. Click here for tickets.

 

ANNUAL CITY PARK BUNNY BOLT – APRIL 4

Start your weekend with a run at the Annual City Park Bunny Bolt 5K & 10K, happening Saturday, April 4. This event is open to families, with adult and kid egg hunts happening along the trail.

DO THE TANGO! – Fridays 7pm

Kick up your heart rate with the hottest dance style around. Whether you’re new to the dips and twirls of this passionate dance or you have the moves down like a pro, the expert instruction by live band Orquesta Tipica NaturalTango will have you gliding across that dance floor. Come to learn or just come to watch the spirited performances. NaturalTango creators Diana Cruz and Nicholas Jones (and world-renowned professional dancers) will be on hand to talk about the techniques and history of the tango. Learn more.

 

JAMES MCCARTNEY – LARIMER LOUNGE – April 26

Ready to tap your toes to smart British Invasion-style hooks? Check out critically acclaimed singer-songwriter James McCartney – son of Sir Paul – as he plays tracks from his 2016 album The Blackberry Train on Wednesday night, April 26 at the Larimer Lounge. Buy tickets.

 

Hopefully these activities will help motivate you to shake off those winter doldrums and get out and about around Denver. And if you don’t want to wander too far from home, you can always head over to Reunion Park and get moving.
