Ideas for Dad on Father’s Day

Remember that guy who taught your kids to ride a bike, or throw a baseball, maybe braided their pigtails, or shared how to properly grill a steak? His day is coming up and you’re probably brainstorming ways you can spend some QT with the man who is helping to raise your offspring to be the people they are today.

Lucky for you, we’ve found a few ways to show your appreciation for Dad, or other father-figures in your life, this Father’s Day.

Get outside

It’s June, which means Colorado is in peak early summer weather — so get Dad outdoors! Reunion has 150 acres of parks to play in; round up a few neighbors for touch football, work on his golf swing, or simply come up with a creative game that involves the whole family.

Pick out the perfect gift

Go fish

Take Dad out for a day of fishing at Barr Lake! Colorado Parks and Wildlife has stocked the lake with channel catfish, smallmouth and largemouth bass, rainbow trout, walleye, bluegill, and wiper and tiger muskie. Please note that adults 18 and over will need a permit.

Plan a movie night

If Dad would prefer to stay in and relax, you can order in his favorite pizza and pull up a classic movie that the entire family will enjoy. From father-daughter comedies to heartbreaking films and action thrillers, here’s a list of movies that Dad just might get into.

Make it by hand

Nothing quite pleases like a present made with love. Hold a craft day with the kids the Saturday before Father’s Day so that everyone can make homemade cards and gifts for Dad or Granddad. Feel free to peruse our Reunion Pinterest board for inspiration.
