The Perfect Pumpkin, the Perfect Patch

Fall is just about here and for some people, that means baseball playoffs, scarf-and-boot weather, and changing leaves. But for a certain segment of our Colorado population, it means “pumpkins are coming!” Pumpkin lattes, pumpkin desserts, pumpkin beers, pumpkin carvings…. pumpkin everything! True lovers of pumpkin know how much fun it is to go to an actual patch and pick out the perfect prospect for the season. We at Reunion have compiled a list of some amazing pumpkin patches to visit this month. (Just promise us you’ll bring us a pumpkin treat in return.)

Cottonwood Farms Pumpkin Patch, Boulder

This family farm located just north of Lafayette sells pumpkins and fall produce. The pumpkin patch is open every day from September 22 until October 31, from 10am to 6pm. In addition, you can see farm animals and tractors and take a wagon ride on Saturdays and Sundays. Admission on the weekend is $5 but children 5 and under and seniors 65 and over are always free.

Anderson Farms, Erie

Anderson offers wagon rides to their pumpkin patch. You’ll be pulled by an antique Oliver tractor to a 25-acre patch featuring more than 70 varieties of pumpkins. On the weekends, you can watch them launch pumpkins from a pressurized cannon for up to a ¼ mile and then SPLAT. And if that’s not enough excitement, stay after dark for the Zombie Paintball Hunt.

Munson Farms, Boulder

Wander this huge pumpkin patch for free to pick your own, and then pay by weight and size. Open daily from 9am to 6:30pm, this particular patch specializes in 10 varieties of heirloom pumpkins. Sweet corn and peaches are also available.

Studt’s Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze, Grand Junction

Studt’s not only features its own pumpkin patch, it also has a Pumpkinfest on October 28! Activities include a pumpkin carving contest, pumpkin toss, pumpkin catapult, pumpkin bowling, pumpkin piñatas, a pumpkin smashing pit, pumpkin drop (from 100 feet in the air!), and more. This is truly an event for the true fan.

Diana’s Pumpkin Patch Corn Maze, Cañon City

Open on weekends only until October 31, this family-owned and operated farm offers a pumpkin field with lots of shapes and sizes – a choice of one is included in your admission price. Paid admission also includes fun activities like their popular corn maze, which has a Mario Bros. theme this year.
