From the return of school to cooler weather, September can feel like a transitional month: It’s not quite pumpkin season yet, but we do have to put our flip-flops back on the shelf. We’ve compiled a list of fantastic last-minute summer adventures for your family before we all swing into autumn mode.
Shine On Car Show
Saturday September 7, 10am-2pm, Reunion Rec Center Parking Lot
Do you have a need for speed? If so, the Shine On Car Show is just the place for you. Vehicles of all models, years, and makes will be showcased, from classic muscle cars to sleek modern builds. Thank you to our sponsor Landing Place Church for souping up this event with vendors, food, and music!
Reunion Farmers’ Market
Sundays, 10am-2pm, Reunion Rec Center Parking Lot
Our weekly farmers’ market runs EVERY Sunday until October 14, which means you always know where to find fresh local vegetables and fruits for your family. Did we mention the delicious breads and sweets, kettle corn, and seasonal decor booths? If you’re interested in becoming a vendor, check out the Metro Denver Farmers’ Market website for more info.
A Mile In My Shoes
Daily, 10am-7pm until September 27, Tail Tracks Plaza
Just a short drive from Reunion is the booming 16th Street Mall, where you can teach your kiddos about empathy with Denver’s newest public art installation: A Mile In My Shoes. In a hands-on or shoes-on experience, you can better understand the lives of a refugee, a neurosurgeon, and a war veteran.
Denver Jazz Festival
September 13-15, Various Times, Denver Performing Arts Complex
Put on your flapper dresses and zoot suits, because this vintage-inspired weekend is one for the ages! Dancing the night away is a breeze thanks to world-class jazz performances at the awe-inspiring Denver Performing Arts Complex. An important note: This wonderful event will also raise money for the nonprofit CMDance.
Elk Fest
September 28-29, Estes Park
Venture into the mountains for an annual outdoors tradition. The festival features Elk bugling, Native American art and music, delicious food, and Elk-themed everything! At 7,500 feet you might even notice the seasons changing quicker than usual — consider taking a hike on one of the trails surrounding downtown Estes Park for impressive views.
