June is the first official month of summer, so hopefully you’re busy working on your tan, getting in shape for hiking season, and perfecting your sangria recipe for any upcoming patio parties. Now that the weather is pretty much perfect, it’s the ideal time to participate in all kinds of outdoor activities. Thankfully, your friends at Reunion found a few that we think you’ll enjoy.

RED, WHITE, AND BLUE FEST

Saturday, June 22, 7:30am-10pm, Reunion Park

This Reunion community celebration is back again – kicking off early with Yoga in the Park and ending with fireworks at dusk! Come join in the fun with a bike parade, live music, games, food trucks, face painting, a watermelon eating contest, and more. This year we’re bringing back our model aircraft, build-your-own glider activity, and candy drop —weather and conditions permitting! Is this your first Red, White, and Blue Fest at Reunion? HIGHLANDS STREET FAIR

Saturday, June 15th, 10am-7pm, Highland Square

Head down to the historic Highlands neighborhood on the west side of Denver to enjoy free group workouts, food from local restaurants, eclectic shopping, and more. Enjoy live music performed on three stages, with more than 100 vendors selling handcrafted local goodies, boutique products, and fine art. This free and family-friendly festival offers a full day of community interaction and fun in the sun.

COORS LIGHT DENVER PRIDE PARADE

Sunday, June 16th, 9:30am, Cheeseman Park

The Coors Light Denver Pride Parade brings together Colorado’s diverse LGBTQ community in a powerful and colorful display of solidarity and celebration. The parade, free and open to the public, will start at Cheesman Park and travel down Colfax to the Civic Center — where Denver PrideFest will be taking place.

CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL

Saturday-Sunday, June 22nd-23rd, 11am, Sakura Square

Do you love teriyaki chicken, sake, and Japanese artwork? This festival celebrates Japanese heritage and culture through live entertainment, food and drink, and informative exhibits and demonstrations. Admission is free and visitors can peruse a Japanese-themed marketplace with jewelry, anime, pottery, fine art, and more. Keep in mind that our Red, White, and Blue Fest is being held on this Saturday as well, so Sunday the 23rd could be a better day to plan this outing.

WESTWORD MUSIC SHOWCASE

Saturday, June 29th, Noon-10pm, Golden Triangle

Head downtown for the city’s largest single-day music festival! The 25th Westword Music Showcase will feature headliners CHVRCHES in addition to Jai Wolf, Bishop Briggs, Cooked Colours, lovelytheband, The Knocks, The Wrecks, and SHAED — as well as a large selection of local bands. Learn more.
